The Johan Cruijff ArenA, formerly known in the Netherlands as the Amsterdam Arena, is a football stadium. It is a UEFA Category 4 stadium. Construction lasted from 1993 to 1996, with an estimated cost of €140 million.

The Johan Cruijff ArenA opened in 1996. The stadium is used not only for football matches but also hosts American football matches, concerts, and other public events. The stadium's capacity is 54,990 people for sports matches and 68,000 for concerts.

This grand arena was named in honor of the outstanding Dutch footballer and coach Johan Cruyff, a three-time winner of the Ballon d'Or and a player for the Netherlands national team, Ajax, and Barcelona.

The Johan Cruyff Arena regularly hosts football matches of the local football club Ajax, which has played here since 1996. The Netherlands national football team also hosts its opponents. For some time, the American football club Amsterdam Admirals played their home matches here. In 2000, the arena field hosted matches of the 2000 European Championship.
